Extension for subsidised flight trial

Written on the 17 July 2017

A subsidised flight trial between Kununurra and Halls Creek has been extended to next year for further analysis of the service's feasibility.

The State Government started a 12-month trial in July 2016, with Aviair to fly the route.

Shire of Halls Creek residents, who used the service, receive subsidised airfares while non-residents get a reduced subsidy.

Member for Kimberley Josie Farrer said the flights had reduced travel time between the two Kimberley towns by three hours compared to driving.
