Election 2016: Pilbara key in battle for nation's largest electorate

Election 2016: Pilbara key in battle for nation's largest electorate A political analyst has tipped the Pilbara as a key battleground in the fight to win the federal seat of Durack, the largest electorate in the country.

The seat stretches from the Wheatbelt to the Kimberley, and has experienced both the highs of the mining boom and the full brunt of its downturn.

The seat takes in towns and cities including Geraldton, Karratha and Broome, and is bigger in size than the Northern Territory.

While the Liberals have a strong hold on the seat, both Labor and the Nationals are out to secure it at the July 2 poll.
